Things coaches don't teach anymore

Has the game changed or just the coaching?

  • Bunting - Where is the small ball?
  • Cuttoffs and Priorities - Everyone has a job.
  • Situational hitting - Taking strikes, choking up, or swinging away?
  • Back Up - Remember the catcher that would run halfway up the first base line behind the batter?

What else has disappeared from the game?

Hitting wise everyone is so worried about base hits and bombs. My favorite way to score is hitting behind runners with less than 2 outs. There is nothing a defense can do they play it perfectly, get the out and we still score. I think that team offense mentally has been lost in baseball.

Everybody loves base hits and bombs—but there’s a different level of baseball IQ when a hitter understands the situation and executes for the team.
Not everyone can execute when it matters.
We all like to see the dingers, but the scoreboard ultimately tells the tale.
