This isn’t just a giveaway—it’s about building a place where baseball people actually talk baseball.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: You’re on deck. Step in. No spectators.

I like this format. Hopefully it pushes the game forward in a good way. Baseball more than any other sport parallels real life. There are plenty opportunities to deal with both success and failure. There are times where you are all alone and have to get it done by yourself. There are times when you have to rely on others.

That’s really well said.

Baseball has a way of putting you in just about every situation life can throw at you—sometimes you’re on your own and it’s all on you, and other times you’re part of something bigger and have to trust the people around you.

That’s a big part of why I wanted to build this. A lot of those lessons and experiences get lost in quick comments or buried posts.

This gives people a place to slow it down a little, actually talk it through, and build something for the next person who comes along looking for the same answers.

Appreciate you sharing that.

Hello everyone! So growing up playing ball my whole life I felt like baseball was huge in the youth. Travel ball was all over and multiple teams all over to play with. I’m 33 now and my oldest son is 7. He has been playing since he was 4. I plan on getting him into travel ball but it seems so different from when I was a kid. Has the youth travel game just died off is it just here? I am from Columbia Mo and know the mavericks is a big travel ball team. But other than that I don’t hear about a bunch of other teams.

I think you’re right that travel ball has slowed down around Columbia, Missouri. It used to be that on almost any random evening you can see lights on at Atkins Field and rainbow and Antimi we’re packed every weekend of the summer. Twin oaks had their own organization called starpath. I can’t remember who it was that ran it. He was a big guy with thick glasses, and he passed away probably 10 years ago. There were always rumors that he was dipping into the funds from t-shirt sales and that the organization had a hard time paying their employees, but he could absolutely put together tournaments. Someone was able to talk the city into shortening the fields at Antimi from their 250 ft fences to somewhere around 220ft. They’re great for softball now, but really somewhat useless for anything over 10u competitive ball. I understand that the warriors are now an organization with multiple teams at multiple levels. I believe there are also a couple organizations down in Jefferson City. I am tempted to start an ashcracks team for the show me State games. I would probably be looking at first your kid pitch though.
